Are you wondering how to connect your ministry with the needs and gifts of your neighbors?
What if your buildings and property could further your mission and ministry in your neighborhood and generate new income?
The Good Futures Accelerator can help!
How the Accelerator helps
The Good Futures Accelerator is a proven course that helps congregations align money and mission. Your team explores how to use your buildings and property creatively to further your ministry and build financial resilience, and leaves with a viable idea for a social enterprise.
The accelerator is many things, but most importantly it’s:
Effective. Your congregation arrives at a viable social enterprise idea for your building or property.
Efficient. Most churches finish in about 9 to 12 months.
Self-directed. Your church works at its own pace.
Multi-format. Printed materials, online videos, games, and in-person group exercises.
Whole-congregation. A leadership team of about five (three to seven works) takes the core course, and exercises along the way involve the wider congregation build clarity and consensus.
A path to new revenue. Congregations are bringing in as much as $100,000 a year through new mission-aligned income.
A path to funding. Congregations that complete the Accelerator are eligible for Good Futures Awards grants of up to $5,000.
Churches across the country are using it!
As of 2026, over 350 churches across 44 states (and 2 Canadian provinces!), representing over 20 denominations, had completed or were engaged in the Good Futures Accelerator. Congregations are urban, suburban, and rural, and range from about 50 to 1,000 members.

The Accelerator guides your team through seven sessions. Before each one, team members complete short individual pre-work. Then your team gathers for a group session to discuss, learn, and decide together.

No. The course is self-directed, so your team works at its own pace and chooses when to meet.
-
No, this is a self-directed and self-paced course. You will receive everything you need for a facilitator within the congregation to lead a group through the process.
Consider our cohort option below if you would like to offer more support to a group of churches.
-
You just need a group of 3 to 5 willing participants to serve as the core team that takes the course on behalf of the congregation.
One of those individuals will serve as the group host. Often a pastor is part of the group but that is not required. We will help you choose a team that is suited for the accelerator.

Each church is unique. Good Futures is designed to be helpful for any church that wants to engage the process. Churches of all kinds are doing the Good Futures Accelerator including those with a handful of members and those with thousands of members; churches with budgets under $250k and over $1 million; growing churches and declining churches; rural, urban, and suburban churches; churches with members from a range of backgrounds; and churches located in all corners of the United States.
Good Futures does not introduce specific theological viewpoints, each church is invited to infuse the course with the theological tradition that is right for their congregation and context. The content is relevant for all churches seeking to expand the way they use buildings and property to create new forms of ministry and generate revenue.

launching, and running social enterprises in faith-based, and secular contexts.

While the level of commitment required to complete the Accelerator is not high, it does require commitment. There are 7 group
sessions, which will require 2 hours each, with an additional 1-3 hours of pre-work depending on the session. If you add in the wider
activities, such as Mission Possible and I-Spy, it is probably about a 40-hour commitment for each team member. It is up to you
how quickly you go through the course, but on average, it will likely take about 8-10 months. When you invite a potential team
member, let them know that it will likely require about 40 hours spread over 9 months.

Yes (and no)! Good Futures has replaced the Oikos Accelerator. The first version of our RootedGood accelerator for social enterprise was called Oikos. We changed the name in 2023 and significantly updated and improved the content for Good Futures. But the basic approach and content is the same.
